On the morning of March 21st, Babysheep gave birth to Smokey and Sofie. Smokey, a ram, has multi-faceted markings of black, white, and gray. Sofie, a female, is very small and adorable. Welcome, the last lambs for the 2018 season.

Early in the morning on March 8th, Lizzy gave birth to a single ram, a real cutie. We named him Zagnut. Welcome, little Zagnut to Bear Valley Farm! You're going to love it here.  Early in the morning on March 2nd, Norma gave birth to Sandie (a female) and Oreo (a ram). Both are very healthy and adorable. A fine addition to the Bear Valley Flock.  The snow has melted and the weather has turned quite nice lately. So we brought mothers and lambs over to the Cottonwood Paddock. Everyone seemed to enjoy the new surroundings.  Twelve lambs have been born thus far at Bear Valley Farm. Here are eight of them enjoying the great outdoors. See more pics on the 2018 photos page.  This is pretty typical behavior for a lamb. Why sleep on the cold ground when you can find a nice warm wooly bed? Funny thing is, Babysheep is NOT Wonka's mother. However, she is one of our more accommodating sheep.  Early this morning, February 8, 2018, Grandma gave birth to triplets. One male ("Hershey") and two females ("Snowball" & "Squeasy"). Snowball is the larger of the two females. Squeasy is exceptionally small and extremely cute. She reminds us of Babysheep, a very small lamb Grandma gave birth to back in 2015. So far, all the new lambs are nursing well, even little Squeasy. But her small size worries us a little. We will keep a close eye on her progress.  Late in the afternoon of February 7th, Teardrop gave birth to a fine healthy ram. We didn't witness the birth; but Teardrop cleaned him up really good and, due to his robust size, we didn't even notice the new lamb standing among the other lambs. Say hello to little "Keebler"  On the third day after being born, all lambs receive their tetanus shot, their tails are banded, and they get their numbers.   Since Limpy's udder only works on one side, we knew that we had to start bottle feeding at least one of her three lambs. Well, Weezy was it. She is the runt of the litter so we started her on the bottle. She took to it right away.  |
