Say a little prayer for Bloo (#4). She's not gaining as much weight as we would like and is lethargic. Her hunched up posture indicates she may not be getting enough of mama's milk. We are keeping a close watch on her, giving her some vitamin boosters and monitoring her weight every day. Her temperature is normal, and she's much stronger than Babysheep ever was at this early stage, so we're going to hold off bottle feeding her for the time being. We hope she improves in the next couple of days.

Our first boy lamb was born at 3am last night (January 29th). He was jumping around and having a good ol' time within the hour of his birth. A real spunky little ram.
Don't worry, this is branding with paint. You might recall how Barney the Goat ripped out the i.d. tags from several of last year's lambs. Well no more! Each lamb is now given a number on their butt to identify them. This process takes a little longer as the paint must be blown dry, much to the annoyance of the lamb.
Freckles gave birth to two cute female lambs during the night. The due date was February 1st. Today is January 25th, a whole week early. Both lambs are normal size and appear very healthy.
Welcome little ones to Bear Valley Farm! It's great to see when our animals are at play. It tells us they are happy and content. Here's a few pics of our four goats who spent the better part of the afternoon chasing each other around the goat stands. It was fun to watch them.
