One day Fred, our cat, didn't come into the barn at night. Sometimes he does go on "walk-about" and disappears for a few days, so we were not all that concerned--until Ed, our neighbor, mentioned to me that he saw a yellow cat that had been hit by a car in the ditch just a few feet from our driveway. Fearing the worst, I went to invesigate and found poor Fred. He had, indeed, been struck and killed by a passing motorist. In tears, we gathered our little kitty into our arms and buried him in the old garden next to Ginger and Bebe. Boy, it has been an emotionally draining month for us Bear Valley Farm. First Grandma's lamb, then Babysheep's two lambs, and now this. Fred's brother, Bruce, is all alone now--our sole barn cat. We've been spending a little more time with him as of late to help ease the transition. You can tell he misses his buddy. Bruce and Fred were best of pals and could always be found playing together. Lately, Bruce has become quiet and reserved and we hear him meowing more often. Breaks my heart. I hope he gets over his loss soon. Same goes for me.

The Fall colors came rather late this season, but the colors were spectacular. Here are just a few pics. If you want to see more of the Autumn scenery, check out the photos page.
