Poor Eleanor. We found her yesterday lying on her side in the chicken run. At more than 5 years old she has reached the end of her life cycle. We took her in for her last few days and made sure she got water and food and a warm place to bed down. We will miss her. She was one of our favorites.

Say hello to the newest addition of the Aviation Fleet at Bear Valley Farm. This is a PT-17 Stearman, the full scale version of which was used as a trainer in WWII. The plane flies beautifully. I've always wanted to get a bi-plane. This one has been a hoot.
The Fall colors have not been vibrant this year due to the dry weather as of late. But the sunsets have been spectacular!
This was a tough one for me. Barry, Benny, and Ferrari were our last rams from this year's batch and I've grown very fond of them. Rams at this age tend to be friendly and interactive, but these guys took the cake. They loved to play. Whenever I hopped over the fence in their pasture, they came a runnin' and enjoyed my company immensely. And I theirs. I've been hoping for months now that I could find them a new home somewhere, but alas time has run out and there are no buyers. To market they must go. It was a tearful farewell and that's all I have to say about that.
Goodbye my handsome rams. It's been a rewarding but busy summer this year in the Valley of the Bear. But now that Fall has arrived, I have a little more time for the fun stuff. The other day, I took one of my planes out to the flying field and had a wonderful time taking to the sunset sky. What a blessing. I couldn't take pictures of the Cub in the air while working the controls, so you'll have to settle with seeing it on the ground.
