We purchased five new baby chicks this Spring to add to our brood. On May 25th, they were finally big enough to join the rest of our chickens. To ease the transition and potential injuries to the newcomers, we have included a separate smaller coop for the babies. This way they can integrate more slowly. Eventually the newbies will join the others in the Chick Inn in a few weeks.

The paddocks are growing a little slower than last year due to the cool weather. And since the hayfield has been nibbled down to nothing, we needed to get the sheep on some pasture soon without turning them out in the paddocks just yet. Our solution was to bring in some temporary electric-net fencing and give the animals the south corridor for a few days. They all loved the new grass; and it's nearly gone just after a few days.
Some prospective buyers came by today to take a look at our ewe lambs, so we decided to show them off in the Marshview Paddock. Just for the day, of course. The grass is not quite long enough to turn them out in force. Glad to report that our ewe lambs are sold. We'll have to say goodbye to Bloo and the rest of the females come July.
