Today Toro was placed with the rest of our rams, as he has gotten too large and developed to remain with the ewes. Man alive, has this ram ever grown! He is nearly the size of the others, yet a full two to three months younger. As expected, the transition was not smooth. Toro was out of sorts in his new environment and the rams gave him a rough "greeting". Nothing unusual there. Newcomers always upset the natural order of the herd and it will take a couple of days before order is restored. It was funny to see Barry and Benny take this opportunity to establish their dominence--the head butting was ferocious at times. But Toro remained above the fray. Within a couple of hours, he seemed to be more at home with his new friends. Ferrari treats Toro especially well. I'm glad all is well.
