Ouch! One of our lamb wethers (#22) had a little mishap a few days ago. One of the metal spines on the sheep pen gate had broken off its weld and poor 22 got his hoof caught in it. Once caught, he, in a panic, inadvertantly lifted his hoof and drove the metal spine a good inch into his leg. Fortunately Farmer Tom kept his head and gingerly pulled the hoof from protruding spike. Sharon applied an antibacterial to clean the puncture wound and started the little fella on PEN-G shots for three days to keep any infection from taking hold. 22 is doing a little better now, but I feel bad watching him limp around the pasture. He lies down a lot to keep any weight off the injured foot. But I think all will be well in a week or so. Poor sheep!
