Surprise! Surprise! Grandma Sheep gave birth to Mia, a female lamb, on Sunday May 12th. This was not expected. Grandma was in a bad way back in December 2018. She would not eat and nearly starved. So we separated her from the herd and took special care of her. It wasn't until mid-January 2019 that she was well enough to rejoin the flock. We took our ram, Fabio, off the herd on January 30th to get ready for lambing season. Doing the math, Grandma must have gotten pregnant during that one week window. Mia is a little small and Grandma's full milk has not come in yet. So we're doing supplemental feedings for the new lamb. Soon Mia should be drinking from Mama more vigorously. Welcome, Mia, to Bear Valley Farm!
